The Business Design Centre – home of GEO Business – scanned with a ZEB-REVO in 25 minutes

GeoSLAM 12_no background full_klein

The Geo Slam ZEB-REVO is a lightweight revolving laser-scanner.  Handheld, pole mounted or attached onto your chosen mobile platform such as vehicle or UAV and pass through your target survey environment to record more than 40,000 measurement points/second.

The 100hz sensor captures an evenly spaced and dense dataset which can then be uploaded either onto the GeoSLAM Cloud, or on your own desktop copy of the SLAM software. The SLAM software will transform the measurements into a fully registered point cloud. The data can then be transferred into your existing CAD package ready for analysis and design.

To keep the workflow straightforward the PointCab software can generate JPEG’s and DXF’s directly from the point cloud without the need for the user to manipulate the point cloud directly.

The Trimble SX10 is the new scanning total station that combines super-fast 3D laser scanning, high resolution imagery and extremely accurate survey positioning into one device.

SX10 Total Station

The Trimble® SX10 robotic scanning total station redefines the capabilities of everyday survey equipment by providing the world’s most innovative solution for surveying, engineering, and scanning professionals. The Trimble SX10 will change the way you work. This new, versatile solution is capable of collecting any combination of high-density 3D scan data, enhanced Trimble VISION imaging, and high-accuracy total station data, allowing you to capture exactly what you need, saving you time and money on every job.

Trimble’s new Lightning 3DM enables the SX10 to capture both high-accuracy total station measurements and true high-speed 3D scans together in a single instrument providing a higher level of accuracy and measurement performance than ever before. The system is built on the stability of Trimble’s trusted MagDrive™ and Autolock® technologies and is designed from the ground up to deliver maximum accuracy, efficiency and detail. The complete integration of the SX10 with Trimble Access™ and Trimble Business Center software enable familiar and efficient survey workflows to get your crews up and running fast.

With Trimble’s IS (Integrated Systems) Technology, you can start a scan with the SX10 with your Trimble Tablet Controller running Trimble Access Software, and then switch to your GNSS Receiver and go collect GPS points while the SX10 continues scanning. You can also tap a button to switch back to the SX10 to check the progress of your scan any time.

The survey industry has adopted drones early on and quickly put their capabilities to use.  UAVs ability to assist with 3D scanning of topography is outstanding. Drones can access difficult-to-reach areas and locations and generate 3D mapping. UAVs can access places that are too difficult or dangerous for a person to reach using standard 3D scanning surveying equipment. Moreover, in many instances, UAVs can also scan large swaths of landscapes faster than a human can.
